Something recent the Visit Grand Prairie team has done is start a program for our local hoteliers called Discovering Grand Prairie. This is a quarterly program and the staff from our hotels participate in an all-day field trip around Grand Prairie. After a year these hoteliers will have Discovered Grand Prairie!
Our very first trip we visited the Entertainment District of GP, including Lone Star Park, Uptown Theater, Ripley’s and more. This time we ventured to South Grand Prairie for more awesome attractions.
First, we all met at the Grand Prairie Premium Outlets for cookies, swag and a little presentation by their team. The outlets have over 100 stores with discounts anywhere from 25% to 65%.
Next, we were on our way to Tangle Ridge Golf Course. Here we got to see the beautiful greens and the pavilion where tournaments are held. Tangle Ridge is known for their many awards and the feel of the Texas Hill Country.
Back on the bus and we’re headed to one of our beautiful lake parks, Loyd Park. This park is our only overnight lake park. You can rent cabins, the 18-room Loyd Lodge and the Loyd House. You can also bring tents or your RV to stay the night. Loyd Park features hiking trails, off-roading bike trails, a beach, playground, boat docks and more!
Now to the other lake park, Lynn Creek. Lynn Creek is a day park only, and also has a marina. At Lynn Creek, you will find group picnic sites, beaches, swimming areas, volleyball and a driving range. The Lynn Creek Marina is a full-service marina with fishing guide services, boat towing, sunset cruises and soon a party barge rental.
Now it’s lunch time! Here in Grand Prairie, we are so lucky to have the floating restaurant, The Oasis. Yes, it’s literally a restaurant floating on Joe Pool Lake. At lunch we invited the Grand Prairie Police Department to give a presentation on fraud and overall safety for our hotels. Thanks, GPPD, y’all rock!
After lunch, we are headed to Prairie Lakes, another great golf course! Prairie Lakes is a 27-hole course set on the shores of Moutain Creek Lake, which offers fast, affordable play. Prairie Lakes is home to Texas’ largest putting green!
After Prairie Lakes, we’re off to the Ruthe Jackson Center. This is a great space for meetings, special events and even weddings! The 18,000 square-foot facility features seven meeting rooms, turnkey event planning, catering services, audio/visual equipment and more.
Next stop is Asia Times Square! This place is a hub for eastern goods, services, flavors and festivals. As if that isn’t enough Asia Times Square is also home to the largest Asian grocery store in DFW, Hong Kong Market.
Our last stop on the trip is America’s favorite flea market, Traders Village. This famous flea market has over 3,000 vendors, 12 carnival rides, arcade games and a wide variety of state fair style foods.
